Gain Institutional Support

Before the college submits your grant application, you must complete the Request to Apply for External Funding (pdf). This process ensures that all relevant parties have an opportunity to review and comment on the application before President Edwards Lange considers it for final approval. Here are the required steps:

  1. To get started, you will need to identify departments that would be involved or impacted by the project. Discuss the project with the appropriate staff for the department and get their comments; the final project design should reflect their feedback.
  2. The next step is for the Project Director and Dean to sign off on the project. These signatures confirm that relevant departments have been consulted and provided input, that the sponsoring department has the capacity to implement the project if funded, and that the Dean has thoroughly reviewed the project budget, design and outcomes.
  3. Now your request is ready to go the college administration for review and presidential approval. By this time, you should have a final draft and budget to attach to request form. The Director of Grants will facilitate this step, but be sure to allow enough time (at least two weeks) before the grant is due to make sure that your grant meets the deadline for submission.
  4. After the president approves the grant, the Director of Grants will submit the grant to the funding source on behalf of the college.

If your grant is successful, congratulations! Check out the Implement Your Project section for information and resources to ensure smooth sailing in the post‐award stage.
